| Militant suspects turn out to be burglars | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 11: Two militant suspects arrested by police from the border Kanhachak area near here today later turned out to be notorious burglars. Police sources said Zahoor Ahmad of Awantipura and Irshad Ahmad of Budgam were roaming at Kanhachak under mysterious circumstances when a police party led by Kanhachak police station SHO, Sub-Inspector Jai Pal Sharma stopped them for checking. When they failed to satisfy the queries of the SHO, they were taken into custody and whisked away to the police station.Sources said during sustained interrogation, they confessed that they were burglars and had committed dozens of thefts in Kanhachak, Janipura, Bus Stand, Narwal, Gajansoo and many other areas here for the past over a month. The duo had burgled into the kiryana shop of one Mangal Singh Saini at Gole Pattan two days back and decamped with over Rs 20,000 in cash and goods worth lakhs of rupees. Their interrogation was on and some more thefts were likely to be worked out at their instance, the sources added.
