Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 11; The students Scholars joint Action Committee (SSJAC) a amalgam of various student organization burnt the effigy of Jammu University authority against opening of a police station inside the campus. SSJAC said that this decision of JU authority shows dictatorship to depute policemen inside the campus without the consent of students, scholars teacher and non-teaching staff. SSJAC is chocked for non academic activity inside the campus because JU authority spent Rs. 70 lac for providing infrastructure to policeman and further 10 lacs per month for their salaries and other expense to be paid by administration from JU’s funds. But on the other side students faces lot of problems like problems of girls Hostel, well furnished class rooms, toilets, library facilities etc and SSJAC express resentment and anguish over the dictatorship of J& authority and said that to deploy the policemen inside the campus is not basically for security purpose but to crush the voice of students community which point out the misuse of funds misuse of power and illegal appointments from time to time in front of civil society through Media.
SSJAC’s said that when terrorism was at peak at that time there was no decision taken by authority to open police station inside the campus.
Why the JU authority create terror in the students community as well as civil society by baseless statement that there is militancy threat to Jammu University SSJAC members alleged that there is no need to open the police stat inside the campus because police line is 250 to 300 meter away, the ware house police post is 150 to 200 meters away, Army unit is adjoining to JU campus and police head quarters is 100 meters away from the campus.
Members of SSJAC appeal political, non-political all the students organizations media and whole of civil society to raise their voice against the deployment of police inside the Jammu University.
