| Court asks for Police probe in complaint against nursing home | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan11- In a criminal complaint filed by one Retired Government Officer against Gem Eye Nursing Home Nai Basti Jammu & Ors, Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu YP Bourney, after hearing Advocate Aditya Gupta directed SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar, for investigation of the case under law. One Kanta Devi retired Knitting Instructor in DIC Jammu who retired in 2009, has filed this complaint u/s 326/420 RPC against Gem Eye Nursing Home and Others in which it has been submitted that complainant was having problem of cataract in her eye which was creating trouble for her. The complainant read an advertisement in the newspaper that Doctors from AIIMS are coming to Jammu at Gem Nursing Home Nai Basti, and the complainant approached the said Nursing Home for getting her eye operated and got her self registered for the operation. The surgery took place on September 15, 2009, but after the surgery she is not able to see from one eye for which surgery took place. She complained with the nursing home which referred her to one SM Retina and Laser Eye Center Gandhi Nagar Jammu where Dr. Sandeep Gupta & Dr. Manesha Gupta informed the complainant that she is suffering from an infection in eye and it will take two to three days till the infection is finally cured and she will be in a condition to see properly. According to Advocate Aditya Gupta that complainant went to Amritsar where she consulted Dr. Daljeet Singh and Dr. KD Sharma who informed that she has lost her eye-sight due to the negligent surgery done by the doctor and no repair is possible. Upon this complainant had a shock that she has lost her eyesight due to negligence of doctor. The petitioner has prayed for booking the accused u/s 326 and 420 RPC and strict action initiated against them to avoid repetition of such acts in future. JNF
