| 30 gets jobs in SFC on Compassionate grounds | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, JANUARY 12 –Minister for Forests Mian Altaf Ahmed today distributed 30 appointment letters on compassionate grounds, to the dependents of State Forest Corporation (SFC) employees who have died in harness. Such dependents have been appointed under the newly introduced, J&K SFC Compassionate Appointment Scheme which is analogous to SRO- 43 for Government employees. Since the service in the Corporation is non-pensionable, the families of employees, who die in harness, were put to extreme hardships and left without any regular source of income. With the introduction of the scheme for compassionate appointments in the Corporation , the long pending demand of the Corporation employees has been met and this scheme has provided great relief to the dependents of employees who die in harness. Speaking on the occasion, the Forest Minister exhorted the Corporation employees to work for its betterment of the Corporation with sincerity and dedication so that the Corporation is in a position to meet its business and social obligations. The Minister stressed upon the Corporation employees that the public must get the timber they needed as and when they approach to the Corporation . He called for streamlining the functioning of the Corporation with focus on meeting the requirements of the consumers and subsequently giving fillip to the revenue resources.” This is necessary for putting the Corporation in good health”, Mr. Altaf added. During the past one year, the State Forest Corporation has undertaken a number of measures for welfare of its employees.. These include introduction of a scheme for in-Situ Promotions for the first time in SFC and effecting regular promotions in different cadres after a gap of many years. The Managing Director of SFC, Mr. Abdul Qayoom Khan, expressed heart felt gratitude on behalf of all the Corporation employees for the keen and pro-active role that the Minister has taken in addressing the problems of the Corporation and making it a vibrant and independent institution. The Commissioner /Secretary Forests, Mr. Shantmanu, Chief Conservator of Forest Mr. S.C. Sharma and senior officers of the SFC also attended the function.
