In his Santoor recital the young maestro Abhay Rustum Sopori presented Raga Basant Mukhari with a brief Aalap – Jod and beautiful compositions ‘Parvar Digaar Tu’ and ‘Uthat Jiya Hook’. His recital captivated everyone and received thunderous applause throughout the concert. Abhay also made the prisoners and the staff sing with him. He was accompanied on Tabla by Sarit Das, one of the foremost Tabla exponents of the country.
Addressing the audience Abhay said that the programme was organized with a motive to provide emotional support to the prisoners and in order to help them psychologically with music therapy in an attempt to make them better human beings so that they are able to face the world with confidence when they go out after completing their term.
The speakers hailed the efforts of Abhay Rustum Sopori in moving ahead with his mission to make Jammu and Kashmir a culturally vibrant State under the aegis of his father – the Santoor Legend & Composer Pt. Bhajan Sopori.
