| Pahari Forum announces governing body | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 13- In an endeavor to put new life to the Pahari cause, Jammu & Kashmir Pahari Cultural and Welfare Forum Chairman Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari has announced governing body with Member Parliament, state legislatures, former chairmen of Forum, former legislators and senior politicians of state belonging to Pahari community as its members. As per the handout of the organization Member Parliament and former minister Mohammad Shafi Uri will be special invitee and former Speaker and MP Mirza Abdul Rashid will be the member in the governing body .The governing body will have other members, including former Chairmen of the JKPCWF, Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan MLA Mendhar, Mohammad Sharief Tariq former Minister, Thakur Puran Singh former Minister and Sharafat Ali Khan. All the working legislatures of Pahari community including Minister of State Shabir Ahmed Khan, MLA Kalakote Rachpal Singh, MLA Poonch Ajaz Ahmed Jan, MLA Tangdhar Kafil-ul-Rehman, MLA Nowshera R S Sharma, MLA Abdul Ahad Khan, MLC Murtaza Khan, MLC MR Qureshi, MLC Jehangir Mir, MLC Ravinder Sharma and MLC Mohammed Yousaf Shah will be its members. Former legislators who have been taken as members include GM Mir Poonchi, Mohd Aslam Khan of Rajouri, Nissar Ahmed Khan of Mendhar, Ashok Kumar Sharma of Kalakote, Ikhlaq Khan, Advocate Nazir Ahmed Mir, Bashir Ahmed Lone, Rahim Dad Farida Mir, Aslam Khan of Uri and Mohd Nassar Khan. Provincial Presidents of the Forum Mohammad Azam Sagar, political leaders viz Mohammad Iqbal Malik of Congress, Kuldeep Raj Gupta of Bhartiya Janta Party , Yashpal Sharma of PDP, Sardar Surinder Singh of Nowshera and H.S Bedi of Poonch were also included in the governing body as its members. Following the announcement of Governing body of the forum, Chairman of JKPCWF Mushtaq Ahmed Bukhari said that they will expand the body in near future by including some members in it. He said that the decision of constituting governing body has been taken to strengthen the Forum and take forward the demand of the ST status to the power corridors of New Delhi. He added that the ST status is the right of the community which was denied to them in 1989 despite the community was figuring at No 1 in the list of recommendation made by the state government to the Centre. He said that their case is strong and they will soon get the status from government. Bukhari appealed the community to get united and fight for the cause of Pahari community. He also appealed all the members of the governing body to enhance the struggle for grant of ST status to Paharis.
