Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 13 – In yet another land mark people-friendly measure, the government today decided to execute 4.50 kms long Vailoo Tunnel near Chatroo, Singhpora and Vailoo at a cost of Rs. 400 Crore. Matters relating to the construction of the tunnel connecting Kishtwar and Anantnag through a highway proposed between the two districts were discussed at a high-level meeting here today which was chaired by the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah. The meeting also discussed modus operandi for constituting Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) by Jammu and Kashmir Bank for the construction of project on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The meeting was attended by the Minister for R&B, Mr. G. M. Saroori, Advisors to the Chief Minister, Mr. Mubarak Gul and Mr. Devender Singh Rana, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, the Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Dr. Haseeb Drabu, Commissioner/Secretary, Planning, Mr. B. B. Vyas, Commissioner/Secretary, R&B, Mr. Mehboob Iqbal, Chief Engineers and other senior officers. Dr. Drabu presented the resume of the proposed project and said that the project is viable and would be a showcase for PPP mode in the state.
