Jammu, Jan 13: A sequel to the ‘Nightmare on the Elm Street’-a superhit Hollywood movie-is being presuming enacted in the hostel of Government College for Women Parade from past few days as an informal complaint stands registered in the police about some one unseen reporting in the hostel at the fall of night every day.
“It is only a vague apprehension. The girls might have feared of some shadow and have taken it other wise it being a thief or a ghost,” responded Meena Sharma, Warden of the college, who is holding the post for last fourteen years in the hostel. She added, “Nothing of this sort had been reported so far which does not needs any serious consideration.
The anecdote unfolded on January 8 when a girl of first year complained to have come across a boy hiding in the hostel bathroom in the night hours on the intervening night of January 7 and January 8 and she reported it to the college warden.
“No such incident has occurred in my 14 years service of warden. I believe that the girl might have feared of another girl’s shadow which led to panic in the hostel. Nobody can enter the hostel without permission,” the hostel Warden said.
The Warden, however, said that they took the complaint seriously and informed the police.
“Though a couple of sentries were deployed for a vigil in and around college campus on January 8, no such incident occurred on that day. On the very next day, the police cops were withdrawn from the college premises,” said insiders of the college.
They further said, “Despite this another ruckus was reported on the same issue of some girls again having noticed the presence of a male in the college toilet that have raised a needle of suspicion, a little above the doubt.”
Unconfirmed reports said that the male had attacked the girl who got an injury in her hand during the scuffle. This report, however, was completely ruled out by the hostel Warden.
“He might be somebody’s paramour who has found an access into the college. We have been asked not to disclose the incident before anybody, even not with our family members,” said a girl residing in the hostel withholding her identity.
Another of most superstitious nature confided her findings to the arrival of a ghost in the Campus who has greater access over police and all other paraphernalia.
As rumor mills are agog nothing concrete has come out on the status of the ‘ghost’ so far.
Talking to the Early Times, Savitri Sharma, Principal of the College remarked, “Nothing like this has come to our notice so far. We have deployed watchmen for tight vigil in and around the hostel. The girls generally fear from the shadows and it could be the same incident, if it happened.”
