| ICDS workers delegation calls on Tarigami | | | Early Times Report Srinagar Jan 14 Various delegations of Women Activists working for Integrated Child development Scheme (ICDS) as Anganwadi Workers and Helpers today met the State Secretary CPI (M) and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami and apprised him about their problems . During the meeting the delegates raised a number of demands like institutionalisation of ICDS and regularisation of Anganwadi workers and Helpers as Grade III and Grade IV employees and enhancement of honorarium to Rs 3,000 per month for workers and Rs 2,000 for helpers, pending regularisation. While fully supporting the struggle of the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers to improve their conditions, The State Secretary CPI (M) assured them to raise their issues in the Assembly. Later in a statement issued to the press, Tarigami said that the government had neglected the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers who constitute the backbone of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS). He urged the government to take a serious note of the discontent among the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers and take the necessary action for the immediate fulfillment of their genuine demands.
