1/14/2010 10:08:08 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu Jan 14: Centre of Indian Trade Unions, J&K, in its meeting has urged upon the State Government to hold negotiations with the agitating daily wagers of Power Development Department. While addressing the meeting working president, J&K CITU Javaid Ahmad Zargar, urged upon the government to regularize the daily wagers/casual labourers of PDD engaged after 1994. Zargar further elaborated that it is irony that the government has not called them for negotiations despite the fact that they have been on agitational path for more than 50 days. “Instead government is resorting to suppression of the genuine and peaceful agitation for release of wages and regularization with iron hand which is bound to lead to more confusion among the rank and file of the working class people especially the daily rated workers and casual labouerers working in various departments”, he said.
He called upon the government to invite the leadership of the agitating daily wagers/casual labourers to sort out issues amicably for release of pending wages and their regularization.
