Don’t fall prey to false propaganda: Bakaya to KPs
1/14/2010 10:18:14 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 14 : Minority Cell of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has cautioned the Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) not to fall prey to false and vicious propaganda launched by some KP organisation regarding employment package announced by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah recently.
“We welcome the initiation of steps by the coalition government to implement the Prime Minister’s package for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants. The package contains many incentives designed to facilitate the return of migrants to the Valley. The members of Apex Committee have already welcomed the initiative taken by the Chief Minister,” Vijay Bakaya, former Chief Secretary and president of NC Minority Cell told reporters here.
Bakaya said that package would help thousands of KP youth to get employment and help them to rehabilitate themselves in their homeland. “Some vested interests are trying to create hurdles before the package and are trying to divert the attention of the community youth,” he said.
The NC leader said that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is sincerely trying to bring the KP community back to valley and employment package is the first step in this regard. He clamed that the package would be fully implemented by March this year so that youth among the displaced community could start their work in valley this summer.
Bakaya further said, “Some so-called leaders have started to spread dis-information campaign against the package but youth should understand that the government is looking forward to address the unemployment problem faced by the community.”
He, however, urged the government to take necessary steps to implement other components of the Prime Minister’s package like relief to orchardists, traders and displaced industrial unit holders who are unable to re-establish themselves because of procedural difficulties.
Regarding conditions put on the package, Bakaya said that he would take up the issue with the government so that a clear position is brought before the community.
