Jammu, January 14- The Committee on Privilege of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council met under the Chairmanship of MLC, Mr. M.Y Taing, here today.
The Committee discussed threadbare various privileges moved by the legislators, Mr. Rafiq Ahmad Shah, Mr. Murtza Ahmad Khan and Mr. Altaf Ahmad Wani against Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Mr. Showkat Ahmad Mir, Additional District Development Commissioner, Poonch, Syed Anwar Hussain and Executive Engineer, Sub-Transmission Division, Power Development Department, Bijbehra, Anantnag, Mr. Mohammad Akram respectively, besides deliberating on privilege Committee Rules.
Being not satisfied with the replies submitted by these officers, the Committee decided to summon the Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara, Mr. Showkat Ahmad Mir and Executive Engineer, Sub-Transmission Division, PDD, Bij Behara, Anantnag, Mr. Mohammad Akram for personal appearance in the next meeting in instance, failing which, action will be taken against them under law.
Legislators, Mr. Altaf Ahmad Wani, Mr. Showkat Hussain Ganie and Mr. Mohammad Rashid Qureshi put forth valuable suggestions for further streamlining of the functioning of the Committee.
Secretary, Legislative Council, Mr. G. R Mehboobi and other senior concerned officers attended the meeting.
