DIC presents scintillating Dogri folk show

UDHAMPUR, OCTOBER 08
As a step forward to popularize the folk forms of Dogri songs and dances among the younger generation, the District Information Centre, Udhampur organized an impressive Dogri folk culture show in the premises of government High School Jib about 15 kms from Udhampur town.
The Chief Education Officer, Udhampur, Mr. V.M.Raina was the chief guest on the occasion.
Folk artists attired in their colorful in their traditional costumes kept the audience spell bound with their heart throbbing performances for more than two and half hours.
Mr. Ram Ditta and party including Chattu Ram, Parkash, Rakesh Kumar, Babu Ram. Challo Ram and Mohinder presented forceful Dogri items based on dowry, national integration, literacy etc. The artists also made aware the students regarding the prevention of Dengue through their skits. Dogri humorous presented by Mr. Hari Om Gudda and folk songs by Mr. Surjeet Singh both artists of Information Department were widely appreciated on the occasion.
Mr. Satya Rishi, a young comedian and recipient of first prize in Hasya Vayang contest recently held at Navratra Festival Katra stole the show by presenting a hilarious dogri mono-logue which compelled the audience to burst into laughter.
Appreciating the efforts of Information Department, the Chief Education Officer said that the department is putting up its sincere efforts in popularizing the dogri folk culture among the students, which would go a long way in preserving the rich dogra traditions among the generations to come. He said co-curricular activities are imperative in educational institutions for the over all development of the students. He urged for arranging such more programs in other schools also.
Head Master of the institution, Mrs. Veer Bala Gupta presented vote of thanks.
Among others, District Information Officer, Udhampur, Dr. Jagdish Chander Mehra, Dy.C.E.O., Mr. B.R,.Salalia, art lovers and number of students witnessed the show.
