Prof Gianchand Jain Seminar hall inaugurated at JU

Jammu, Jan 14: A seminar hall in memory of Prof. Gianchand Jain, the first head of department of Urdu university of Jammu was inaugurated by the vice-chancellor, Prof Varun Sahni here today.
Welcoming the guest present HOD, Urdu, Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik said that after construction of Hall the literary activities in the department will get further boosted. He said that naming the seminar hall after Prof. Gainchand Jain would be a great tribute to the luminary of the Urdu language who established the department of Urdu in 1965. Prof. Malik thanked vice chancellor and other civil society members who had denoted Urdu department for construction of this Hall. In his address Prof. Sahni lauded the efforts of HOD Urdu for construction the seminar Hall in a record period of one month and added he is keen to promote Urdu language and offered his full support to Urudu department for organizing literary events. The department is now flourishing day by day while paying tribute Prof. Gain Chand Jain, Prof. Sahni described him a literary giant who had contributed a lot for the development of Urdu language and literature.
Prof. Nisar Ahmed Ganai in his address said that Urdu being an official language of the state needs a special treatment. University particularly Dean office will provide financial assistance for organizing academic activities. He too paid tribute to Prof. Gian Chand Jain whom he described a towering researcher of Urdu world. Ved Bahsin also lauded the efforts of HOD Urdu for promoting the language seriously. Bahsin said Prof. Jain was very keen to promote the Urdu language. Prof. M.A.Wani conducted the proceeding of the program ably while Prof. K.H. Siddqui presented the vote of thanks. Earlier the reputed Ghazal singer of the state Ravi Thakur entertain the audience by singing some Ghazals in Urdu.
