| VAP celebrates Vishav Mangala Diwas | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 14: The activists of Vishwa Ayurved Parishad (VAP) celebrated ‘Makar Sankranti’ as Vishav Mangal Diwas at a function held here today. On the occasion members of the VAP discussed seasonal variation which have much effect on the human body and mind. Organizing secretary, Dr. Jatinder Gupta who chaired the meeting said that the ayurveda recounts their effects in detail and gives a detailed account of food, behaviour and routines which one should follow to maintain the equilibrium of the Doshadhatumales. He said Vata, Pitta and Kapha are in natural course provocated by seasonal effects during Varsha (rains), sharad (autumn) and vasant respectively, preceded by their accumulation in the proceedings ritus (season). Therefore, one should not indulge in such food and acts which are likely to increase or provocate the respective Doshas. Again, one should resort to Vamana (Emesis), Virechne (purgation) and Basti (Enemate) respectively to eliminate the accumulated Doshas. Thus one can preserve ones health by preventing the disease caused by season effects, he said. It was also decided to hold a seminar on “Preservation of Health during Uttaryan”. The contest will be open to the students of Ayurveda will be held in collaboration with Jammu institute of Ayurveda and Research at Nardani. Those who spoke on the occasion included Dr. Arun Jandial, Dr. RC Sharma, Dr. Virender Gupta and Dr. KD Gupta.
