EARLY TIMES REPORT KATHUA, Jan 14 : Given the apathy of Power Development Department (PDD), the residents of Kathua town and its adjoining localities have been facing countless problems due to unscheduled power cuts for past several days. Reports said that several localities including Patel Nagar, Shiva Nagar, Bagtali and Changran have plunged into darkness due to non-availability of electricity for the last few days. “Unscheduled power cuts have made our lives miserable. We have been facing problems for the last several days amid intense cold conditions,” a local resident complained. He informed that the Sub Transmission Division –III (STD-III) Hatli Morh, Power Station Changran, and Power Station Taraf Bajwal, which are catering to different localities, have developed a technical snag led to unscheduled power cuts in the town. “The STD-III Hatli Morh having total supply capacity 26.3MVA is catering to Chak Ludan, Janglote Civil, MES, PHE, Hospital, Industries (Old) areas. The station, sometimes, gets tripping due to overloading which force people to live in darkness,” he said. He demanded that Sub-Station Kharote Morh, which has been completed since long, should be made operational with immediate effect.
