| Altaf for strict pollution norms for brick kilns | | Adhere to pollution control norms: Altaf to brick kiln owners | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 15 – Minister for Environment, Ecology and Forests, Mian Altaf today asked the brick kiln owners to adopt required pollution checking norms to keep the environs clean and pollution free. Interacting with the representatives of Brick Kiln Association here today, the Minister sought check on further unplanned growth of brick kilns in the close vicinity of habitations, adding that growing environment pollution has also posed a serious threat to flora and fauna. Chairman, Pollution Control Board, Mr. Vinod Ranjan, Member Secretary, Dr. Rohit Geria, President All Kashmir Brick Manufacturers Association, Srinagar, Mr. Zahoor Malik, Chief Organizer, Mr. Mohammad Amin Kuchey, Vice President, Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Malik, General Secretary, Mr. Ghulam Mohammad Dar and other members were present in the meeting. The Minister also called for rationalizing the existing brick kilns adding the concentration of more brick kilns in a specific areas causes inconvenience to the people and also adds to the environment concerns. He also urged for installation of pollution control devices in various industrial units to contain industrial pollution. The representatives of brick kiln holders presented their charter of demands and sought to simplify registration norms
