| PHE Rajouri denies water to a villager on behest of local political worker | | EXN assures action says matter in his knowledge | |

It may sound incredible, but it is true that Public Health Engineering Department Rajouri disconnected water pipe line of a villager only to please a local political activist who wanted so . Despite all their efforts, the family has not been provided water by the Public Health Engineering Department so far and the family is moving from pillar to post for the past two months . However, the Excutive Engineering P HE Department Rajouri admitted that the matter was in his knowledge and assured that the water supply would be restored to the concerned family as soon as possible .
A seventy year old Sannaullah Dar of village Behrote in tehsil Thannamandi told ‘This corresspondent’ that two months back the officials of PHE department removed the water pipe line of his house on the behest of a local political activist against whose whish they had voted in the last assembly elections. “ On the very next day of the incident I brought the matter to the knowledge of higher authorities of the department but no body heard my plight . After moving from pillar to post for about two months, I took up the matter with the concerned MLA and member parliament of Jammu – Poonch constituency Madan Lal Sharma . Both the leaders gave clear instruction to the PHE authorities to restore the water but the department could not dare to act so far and my family is still without water for the past two months”, said Sanaullah Dar . He is not the lone case of political victimization, Ghulam Nabi Mir son of Mohammad Abdullah of village Khablan has also similar story to tell . He says his water supply pipe was also removed by a local land lord few months back and he was also after the department for restoration of line but all in vain . There are many such stories where the water and power is supplied to the villagers in many places on the wish of a local activist close to the power caridors. Not only this , in many instances , the people are also victimized onh caste basis . If the beneficiary belongs to the opposite caste of the official deployed in the area he is also denied the basic facilities provided by the government.
When contacted Excutive Engineer PHE Division Rajouri, Mohmmad Latief Chowdhary admitted that the matter of Sannaullah Dar was in his knowledge and and his water supplu will be restored shortly and separate officials have been put on job . He said that the pipe line was not removed by the officials but it was removed by a local person against whom the the partment was planning to lodge an FIR . However, the Excutive Engineer Could not give a satisfactory reply that why the FIR was delayed for the past two months .
