| Paharsis hail Mahasabha , PDP MLA for Unity statement | | | Early Times Report Poonch, Jan 15- Chief Executive of J&K Pahari Peoples Movement (PPM) has said that his organization is going to move Supreme Court against undue benefits being given to Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir state and demanded immediate repeal of Scheduled Tribe status from the community terming the Gujjars as “non-nomad”. In a meeting held at Poonch under the chairmanship of GM Charak renowned Pahari leader and organized by Shafqat Wani, Coordinator Rajouri Poonch districts of PPM, Shahbaz Khan, Chief Executive JKPPM said that his organization will knock the doors of Supreme Court against the undue benefits being given to Gujjars of this state despite the community falling in the creamy layer of the society. He said that when the Gujjars are not nomads, why they are being given benefits as nomads. He said that he has all data available to file a writ in Supreme Court. “I will prove that Gujjars are not nomad at present and thus they should be treated in general category”, he said adding that government should also take the matter seriously and constitute a commission to know about the factual position of Gujjars. He however said that Bakerwal are deserved for benefits and demanded more benefits for the community. Welcoming the statement of J&K Gujjar Mahasabha and MLA Zulfikar Ali about unity between Pahari and Gujjars, Khan said that there are some Gujjars leaders who think positive but some are indulging in false propaganda against Paharies to provoke them. Welcoming announcement of governing body by Jammu & Kashmir Pahari Cultural & Welfare Forum, Khan said that the body will enhance struggle for ST status right of the Pahari tribes. He said that his organization is fully supporting Mushtaq Bukhari in this cause.
