Kashmir varsity all set to host Science Cong 2006

Srinagar July 22 (NAK): The University of Kashmir, Srinagar is all set to organize the 2nd Jammu and Kashmir Science Congress with the theme "Science for Better Tomorrow".Which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister J&K state and Pro Chancellor Kashmir University,Ghulam Nabi Azad on 25th July, 2006 at 10.30 am at Gandhi Bhawan University campus.

Public Relation Officer of the Kashmir University Showkat Shafi said that about 500 Scientists and Researchers representing premier Institutions of the Country are likely to participate in the congress organized in collaboration with Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi and J&K State Council for Science and Technology, Srinagar and present their research findings.

During the Science Congress luminaries of different scientific disciplines would deliver special lectures in Agricultural, Earth, Environmental, Mathematical, Physical, Chemical, Pharmaceutical & Medical Sciences, Life & Applied Biosciences and Home Science.

Prof. Abdul Wahid, Vice-Chancellor Kashmir University, the Patron of the congress said gaining more and more scientific knowledge is the way forward for a better tomorrow. He expressed hope that organizing the Congress by Kashmir University will go a long way in benefiting our students and scholars in science stream and it will open up new windows of understanding for them Prof. M. Z. Chishti, Chief Coordinator P.G. Centers, is the Organizing Secretary of the congress.

Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Science and Technology and Information Technology will be the guest of Honour of the function.

The recommendations emanating during the three days deliberations will be consolidated and sent to different agencies for furtherance of science teaching and research in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, with a report to DST Govt. of India.

Meanwhile Kashmir University in a communication has asked all those Publishers ho are interested in the display of their Scientific Books are advised to contact the Chief Librarian, Iqbal Library so that the space for display of books will be allotted to them.
