Talking to media persons on the sidelines of Investiture Ceremony-2010 at Udhampur, about 65 km from here on the Jammu-Srinagar road, he said the year 2010 was crucial as Pakistan was making all out effors to push militants into the state to foment trouble and keep the pot boiling. "I don't think Pakistan will be very happy with the situation in Jammu and Kashmir returning to normalcy," Lt Gen Jaswal said. Even as he apprehended more Lal Chowk-type attacks in the state, he said the forces were fully geared up to foil any such attempt by militants and to deal with them effectively. He also expressed concern over the abrupt increase in the infiltration attempts in the past few days, but said troops were ready to foil any intrusion bid by the Pak-based militants. "I can assure you we are well prepared to foil any kind of infiltration bid from across the borders," he asserted. In reply to a query, the GOC-in-C said the militant training camps in Pakistan were intact. About six fidayeens having entered J&K from across the borders, he said he did not think the input was correct as there was heavy deployment of troops on the borders. "We do not have any report about infiltration by fidayeens, but some odd militant may have infiltrated," he added. He also sought to clarify reports on the reported Chinese incursions in Ladakh, saying no such thing had happened in the region. The northern command army chief also paid glowing tributes to the soldiers who had made supreme sacrifices to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation. "We should learn from our history and continuously strive to fire a flame of 'Nation Above All' in every Indian’s heart," he added. He presented 45 Sena Medals (Gallantry), 2 Sena Medals (Distinguished) and 5 Vishisht Seva Medals to the awardees. Twenty-one GOC–in-C Appreciation certificates were also presented to the units which excelled in the last one year.
