| Malik advises youths to take benefits of employment schemes | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, JANUARY 16 – Emphasizing the youth of the State to avail the facilities being provided to them for establishing self-employment ventures, Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik said that there is large potential in agriculture, horticulture and renewable resources which need to be tapped for the progress and prosperity of people.
The Minister was speaking at the concluding function of the 5-day Employment Mela at Samba today.
Mr. Malik said that exploiting the available natural resources can generate tremendous economic activities to boost the State economy. He stressed for sensitizing the youth about the raw materials and marketing prospects of the products in their respective areas for establishing sustainable ventures in private sector, adding that incentives as well as easy loans are being provided to the unemployed youth for the purpose.
As many as, 65 stalls were set up during the Employment Mela at Samba which had commenced from 11th of this month. Loans worth Rs 87 lakh, sanctioned by various banks during the Mela, were disbursed among the entrepreneurs for establishing their units on the occasion.
During the Mela, over 88 registrations were made while District Employment and Counselling Centre, Samba, registered 15,793 unemployed youth, including 9,937 male and 5,856 female in the district.
The Minister appreciated the District Administration for organizing such an Employment Mela where necessary literature was also provided to the youth for encouraging them to set up self-employment ventures Mr. Malik visited all the stalls and enquired about the facilities being made available to the people for self-employment ventures.
Among others, MLA Samba, Mr. Yash Paul Kundal, District Development Commissioner, and district officers were also present on the occasion.
