| Ajay Kumar, son of the soil, awarded Sena Medal | | | Early Times Report

In recognition to his brave act in militancy infested Manipur, son of the soil Rifleman Ajay Kumar was today awarded with Sena Medal during Army Day function at New Delhi.
Ajay, of 32 Assam Rifles, is a resident of Sarore village in district Samba.
On February 25, 2008, following a tip off that some terrorists were moving in a car at Kongaba, an operation was launched by army. The vehicle was intercepted at Kongaba crossing following which Rifleman Ajay Kumar approached and signaled the driver to stop the car.
On halting, three of the occupants came out of the vehicle and two of them pointed pistols towards the army jawan.
The terrorists fired on Ajay Kumar but he followed them to retaliate the terrorists’ action.
In the ensuing gun battle, the Jammu youth eliminated two of the terrorists while one managed to escape. The slain suspects were later identified as the terrorists of hardcore PREPAK outfit, a banned and infamous terrorist group in Manipur. |
