Both the leaders expressed their resentment over the withdrawal of security from a number of BJP senior leaders in Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Reasi, Udhampur and other areas of the state. They said even Block level leaders of the Congress, NC and PDP have been provided security but the BJP senior leaders are treated differently. They said that the BJP leaders and activists have been targeted in the past and provision of security for them is of dire necessity. They said that the situation in the state is not conducive and the BJP leaders have been confined to their homes as they are feeling insecure to take up their political activities in their areas.
The BJP leaders also expressed their concern over delay in regularization of SPOs who have been putting best services since 1996 in remote and far-flung areas. They also urged the DGP to strengthen the Village Defence Committees (VDCs) by equipping them with modern and sophisticated weaponry.
The BJP leaders were assured of appropriate action over the issues raised by them. |
