| Congress can integrate all regions of state: Soz | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, Jan 16: Asserting that the Congress is the only party which can integrate the state together, former Union Minister and Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, Saif-ud-Din Soz today called upon the cadre to strengthen the party at gross root level, besides displaying unity and harmony. The JKPCC president, who is also the chairman of Congress Coordination Committee, maintained that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah led coalition government would complete its tenure and all the regions of the state would witness overall and equitable development. Addressing series of public meetings at Gandhrwan and Chowki Choura in Akhnoor, Bamla, Sunderbani, Siot, Bagnoti, Dhalian in Nowshera, Chingus, Kallar and also a huge gathering at Dak Banglow Rajouri, Soz said that participation of local representatives is imperative for all round development of the State. The former Union Minister cautioned the people against those dividing them on one or other issues, adding “those who are in the search of any issue to create wedge among the people and regions can never be real representatives of the people.” He said that the Congress would always strive for fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the State. “We have exhibited time and again that Congress has the will to steer the State to peace and progress,” he claimed while lashing out at such parties who were indulging in divisive politics He appealed the masses to work actively for the development of the area and said that the Central and State Governments are fully aware of problems being faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir and are making all out efforts to mitigate them in large extent by providing all basic amenities including drinking water, road connectivity, health, education, food supply and power in every nook and corner of the State. He said that development of remote and far-off areas of the State is the priority of the coalition Government, adding that UPA Government in Centre has provided liberal funding to develop the Jammu and Kashmir as model State. The JKPCC chief also asked the people to gear up for the ensuing elections to the Panchayat and local bodies and ensured the honest and genuine people get elected to these institutions of democracy. He remembered that Mahatma Gandhi had dreamt about power to the people which was practically followed by Rajiv Gandhi through 73rd & 74th amendment to the Constitution. He said that he felt the need to further strengthen the Panchayat Raj in the state also in the same pattern. He said that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other leaders of the party, wanted peace and development in the State. He said that during one year tenure of the coalition Government, unprecedented development was made in every sector and would be remembered as an era of development in J&K. He also assured the local populace for early redressal of their long pending demands. Speaking on the occasion, Minister for School Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed said that the coalition Government is committed to provide latest equipped infrastructure facilities in every nook and corner of the State. He disclosed that the Government has introduced mid-day meal schemes upto 8th levels in government institutions in the State. Addressing the rallies, Minister for Medical and Technical Education R S Chib said that the coalition Government is committed to open polytechnic colleges in the left out areas of the State so that the students could get education at their doorstep. For construction of Stadium in Lambari and Nowshera, he asked the concerned authorities to prepare the detailed project report and submit the same for funds so that the work could be started for the benefit of sports persons. In his address, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said that coalition Government is committed to socio-economic development of the people across the State. He said that his party would work with same commitment and enthusiasm to bring economic and political stability in the State. In his address, Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma said that the Government is committed to provide better medicare facilities to people at their doorstep hospitals by providing latest equipments. On the occasion, Minister of State for Power and CAPD, Shabir Ahmed Khan appealed the masses to use power judiciously and pay power tariff regularly. He said that Government has approved Rs 72 crore as relief for drought hit areas of the State. Former Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma, MLA Indu Pawar, MLC Ravinder Sharma and MLA Dooru G A Mir also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the achievements of the coalition Government in the State. |
