| Reservation for NCC cadets in J&K soon: NCC Dy DG | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 17 : The cadets of National Cadet Corps (NCC) shall get reservation here in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in professional education and jobs opportunity. This was disclosed by Brigadier Anil Gupta, Deputy Director General, NCC in a TV show ‘Ek Mulaqat’ at Door Darshan. Brigadier Gupta said that the decision will be taken soon in Jammu and Kashmir by the Govt based on a request made by the NCC authority. He said that Govt assured to extend support to ensure that the NCC in the State continued to excel in its service to the State and the nation. Speaking at the TV show, he said that NCC is the largest uniformed youth organization in the world and moulds young men and women into responsible and disciplined citizens with values of secularism, national unity and selfless service. The corps also provides ample opportunity to the youth of our country for their personality and character development and in channelizing their abundant energy towards nation building, he added. He informed that in J&K NCC was raised in the year 1954 with one senior division unit and four junior division troops. With an authorized strength of 21630 cadets managed by a highly motivated team of officers, ANOs, PI staff and GCIs, NCC in J&K is spread over 22 districts of the State covering 259 institutions in 84,000 sq km of frontage, he informed. Deliberating over the activities of NCC, Brigadier Anil Gupta said that during an year, NCC organized Locally Organized Camps, Centrally Organized Camps, Advance leadership camps and Rock Climbing Courses, Special Integration Camp, Youth Exchange Programme, Certificate Exam, Selection of Cadets in the Armed Forces, Independence Day celebrations, J&K State Shooting Competition, Mountaineering Expedition and Sailing Expedition.
