Jammu, Jan 17: To honour the newly elected State Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) President Shamsher Singh Manhas, Talab Tillo and Janipur Mandals of Jammu West BJP organised a “Felicitation Function” at Shakti Nagar.
Besides new President, Jammu West MLA and leader of the BJP legislature party Chaman Lal Gupta, Jammu East MLA Ashok Khajuria, JMC Mayor Kavinder Gupta, District President Rajesh Gupta and two Mandal Presidents- Praduman Singh and Pushpa Wazir were also felicitated on the occasion.
On the occasion, a booklet titled “TERA TUJKO ARPAN” containing details of the development works being undertaken during last one year in different areas of Jammu West assembly constituency with details of amount spend on these works from Constituency Development Fund (CDF) was also released by Chaman Lal Gupta.
Shamsher Singh Manhas, while expressing his gratitude to the party leadership for giving him a chance to serve the party as its State President, said that the nation has been facing a number of problems in this border state and in such a situation the responsibility on BJP is much more as ours is the only party which stands for strengthening the nationalist forces in the state, its full integration with rest of the country and abolition of provision of Special status to the state which has proved to be more harmful than giving any benefit to a common citizen.
He said with the each passing day, a new development is witnessed which poses threat to the unity and integerity of the country. Policies of the two regional parties, the NC and the PDP, has all along remained Kashmir-centric and the Congress, which is a national party, has only worked to please the Kashmiri leaders, thus showing no concern for Jammu and its people.
Manhas stressed for the need to strengthen the hands of BJP, which would mean strengthening the nationalist forces in the state.
In his address, Chaman Lal Gupta said that the public as well as the gross root party workers have high expectations from new party president. He hoped that the party under his able leadership, will get further strengthened in the state and work more vigorously for the people.
He said the BJP is not only a political party but a mission with motive of Ek Vidhan-Ek Nishaan-Ek Pradhan.
Speaking about the booklet relased today, Gupta said the people of his constituency have every right to know as to where the funds allotted to their MLA under CDF are spent, and it is in this context that he has got details published.
Ashok Khajuria, while addressing the gathering, said that the ruling NC-Congress coalition is misleading the people of the state by claiming that all the three regions are treated equally. He said the ground realities are still same.
Kavinder Gupta, Rajesh Gupta, Surinder Sharma, Parduman Singh and Pushpa Wazir also addressed the gathering.
