| Guv, CM, Ministers condole Basu’s demise | | J&K’s political spectrum shocked at death of legend | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JAN17: The Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, has condoled the sad demise of former West Bengal Chief Minister, Jyoti Basu, who passed away at Kolkata today. In a condolence message, the Governor recalled the contribution of Mr. Basu, especially in the socio-economic development of West Bengal. He expressed his sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul. Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah has also expressed grief over the sad demise of Former Chief Minister of West Bengal and CPIM’s stalwart. In his condolence message, Mr. Omar described Jyoti Basu a great leader of the country, who through out his life, worked for the cause of people and for the progress and prosperity of the country. “In Mr. Basu the poor people have lost their true friend” he said and added that the vacuum created by his demise is difficult to be filled. The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on his and on behalf of people of J&K conveyed deep sorrow to the bereaved family and the people of West Bengal. In a condolence message, former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that Jyoti Basu during his political career displayed his abilities as a leader of the people, an able administrator and an eminent statesman. Describing 95-year-old Basu as a powerful regional voice in the national political scene, Mufti said that he had great leadership qualities and was a pragmatic leader. He further said that Basu was a man "committed to the service of his people, his ideology and a sense of idealism". He prayed the almighty to give courage to the family of Jyoti Basu to bear this irrepair loss. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Ministers and Advisors to Chief Minister have expressed grief over the death of former West Bengal Chief Minister and CPIM senior leader Mr Joyti Basu, who passed away today. In their condolence messages, they described him as veteran leader of the country who immensely contributed in nation building and promoted the cause of downtrodden and working class. Chairman People’s Democratic Front and MLA Khan Sahib, Mr. Hakeem Yaseen has condoled the demise of Mr. Jyoti Basu, a veteran communist leader and Former Chief Minister of West Bengal who passed away after a period of brief illness today. In a message, Mr. Yaeen described him as a personal friend, who always championed the cause of poor and downtrodden section of the society said that his demise has created a vacuum in the political circles of country. While expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, Mr. Yaseen hoped that they would be able to bear this colossal loss.
