| Challenger Club wins PD Memorial Cricket Tourney | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 17: Challenger Cricket Club today clinched the Late Col. P D Memorial Cricket Tournament beating Adarsh Cricket Club (ACC) in the final played today at MAM College ground, here. Earlier, ACC won the toss and opted to field. Batting first, Challenger Club set a target of 126 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, which, in reply, ACC could not chase and exhausted their quota of 20 overs for 95 runs losing eight wickets. Dheeraj was top scorer from Challenger Club with 27 runs in his account while Shashi and Mandeep contributed 23 runs each. From ACC, Rajesh and Daleep shared two wickets each while Ashu took one. Later, chasing the target, ACC could not maintain the required run-rate and could score 95 runs in allotted 20 overs with two wickets in hand. Daleep Bhan was main scorer with 23 runs while Satish made 19. Dhruv Mahajan was most successful bowler with three wickets from Challenger. Manik also bagged three while Shashi clinched one wicket. For his superb bowling, Dhruv was adjudged man of the match. The man of the series trophy also went to Dhruv. Jagdeep was declared best batsman while best bowler title was claimed by Ashu. The final was officiated by Kewal Sharma and Lucky while Rajnish Singh was scorer. Organised by Baba Jittoo Kissan Union (BJKU), this tournament was conducted by Simran and Padam Dev Singh.
