| Police Post row: Scholars boycott exams | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 18 In protest against the opening of police post on Jammu University campus, Students Scholars Joint Action Committee (SSJAC) today boycotted the ongoing exams. Executive member of SSJAC Varinder Singh Chib along with two other students of Law Department of Jammu boycotted the paper. In a press statement, Varinder Chib strongly condemned the authorities for conducting exams by locking the doors of examination hall which he described as the violation of right of students. After appearing in the examination, a large number of Law students led by Executive members of SSJAC raised slogans against University authorities for adopting an adamant attitude in deploying the policemen inside the campus. SSJAC members have already made it clear that those students who are against the opening of police post inside the campus will protest against the authorities in a democratic way, said Chib Later, some of the members of SSJAC met with president of Panthers Party and MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia. They discussed the matter of opening of police post on campus with the Panthers chief in detail. Mankotia strongly condemned the decision of deployment of policemen inside the campus. He further said that every educational institution is like a place of worship and there is no need of police inside the campus. The members who met with Balwant Mankotia included Mohinder Pal Singh Pandu, Bindisar Abrol, Javed Iqbal, Abdul Qader, Abhishek Koushal and Mannu Sharma.
