| Educational Tour flagged off | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 18
Under its Operation Sadbhavna project, the Army has launched a number of welfare programmes for the welfare of the locals of the insurgency affected areas. Continuing its efforts, yet another educational tour, named ‘PAIGAM - E – AMAN’ for the children of far flung and border areas of Poonch, has been organized by army. The children will visit Mumbai and Pune during the tour. The tour is being conducted by a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) and comprises of 34 school children. The tour was flagged off today by the Commanding Officer of the Rashtriya Rifles Battalion. Prominent military and civilian dignitaries were present on the occasion. The tour provides the children an exposure to the development, quality of life and historical places of interest in the other parts of the country. The tour will also instill a sense of awareness and national integration amongst the children. It is through this tour that these children will see the awesome Arabian Sea, have a glimpse of the bustling life of a metropolitan Mumbai city, get to see world class institutions, factories and a modern amusement park. During the tour, the children will be visiting INS Mumbai, Naval Dockyard, Gateway of India, Nehru Planetarium, Marine Drive, Haji Ali and Essel world Amusement Park in Mumbai and the National Defence Academy, College of Military Engineering, Army Sports Institute, Bajaj Auto Factory, TELCO, Infosys/Wipro and the Kelkar Museum in Pune. The guest of honour during interaction with the children asked them to spread the message of peace to the places of visit and see the enormous development made by our country. The locals and the parents of these children expressed their gratitude to army for giving this opportunity to their children to see other parts of our country.
