| JU Urdu Deptt demands action against PSC member | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 18
Demanding action against one of the Public Service Commission (PSC) members, who allegedly used unparliamentary language against two towering personalities of Urdu language, faculty members of Jammu University’s Department of Urdu have warned that failing which the Urdu world will launch an agitation against the commission. The demand was made today in a meeting wherein the faculty members alleged that PSC member Manzoor Ahmed Bhat used derogatory words against Prof Gian Chand and Prof Jagan Nath Azad while conducting an interview of a candidate for Urdu lecturers in Higher Education department. They urged the PSC Chairman to take serious note of the issue and sought action against the said member. Speaking on the occasion, senior faculty member Prof KH Siddiqui said that we had nothing to do with the selection process and it is the prerogative of the commission to select or reject a particular candidate but the selection committee had no right to use unparliamentary language against luminaries of Urdu language. The speakers said that the contribution made by Azad and Jain in the development of Urdu language and research could not be ignored. In his address, Head of Department, Prof Shohab Inayat Malik said that if the PSC member is not removed from the commission, the Urdu language fraternity would left with no other option but to resort to agitation.
