| JJSF protests attacks on Indian students in Australia | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 18
Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF) today staged protest against increasing racist attacks on Indian students in Australia at Government College of Engineering and Technology (GCET) Jammu and Government Degree College Paloura here. JJSF activists assembled at main gate of GCET College Jammu under the leadership of Sunil Rajput, president, GCET Jammu and Abhay Sharma, JJSF activist while they were led by Gulshan, president, Degree College Paloura and Sahil Chowdhary, JJSF activist at Government Degree College Paloura. Addressing the protestors, Partap Singh Jamwal, state vice president, JJSF alleged that Indian students are being attacked continuously in Australia. “Though the Australian Government has accepted that the attacks were racial, yet no action has been initiated against the culprits,” he alleged. He also asked the Union Government to take necessary steps for the protection of these students and said that it was first and foremost responsibility of the Government to protect the students and provide adequate security to the students so that they get there education without any fear and doubt in their minds about studying in Australia and other foreign countries. The JJSF leader warned that if the necessary security is not provided to Indian students in Australia, the students would boycott the visits of Australian people in the State. Later, they also burnt the effigy of the Australian Government and raised slogans.
