| NMC urges Sixth Pay Commission to expedite work | | Appeals Chief Minister to release pending DA installment | |
JAMMU | OCT 8 National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) workers today held a massive rally at Rani Park this morning and urged upon Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to push newly appointed Chairman of the Sixth Pay Commission for the early preparation of the Pay Penal Report to save salaried class from the financial hardships. NMC also demanded the early redressal of all the problems related with the state government employees. Addressing the rally, Subhash Shastri President NMC urged upon the Prime Minister as well as Chairman of the Sixth Pay Commission, which was constituted by Central Govt two months back, to expedite the work and submit the report within a period of six months against the fixed period of 18 months as the whole data of the previous commission is already with the authorities. He said that salaried class is facing severe financial hardships in the wake of sharp rise in the prices of all the commodities and 18 months period is too long, so commission shall try to complete the report within shortest possible time. Pleading the cause of the state employees and the pensioners, Shastri urged upon J&K Chief Minister to order the early release of pending D.A installment as other states and central govt have already released this installment to all of their employees. He said that delay in release of DA installment would accumulate financial burden on the government on one hand and increase the financial hardships of the salaried class on other hand. Shastri also demanded the release of wages of the daily wagers, which is pending for the last three years in some cases. Among other who also spoke were Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sunil Kochhar, Sham Lal Sharma, Barkat Ram, Gurdeep Bhalla etc.
