| Centre for climatic change, green technology set up at BGSBU | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Jan 21- To save the planet earth from the hazards unleashed by climate change, particularly Global warming, BGSB University has set up the Centre for Climate Change and Green Technology.
Announcing this on the sidelines of a function organized to launch Admission for the current year; Masud A. Choudhary University’s Vice-Chancellor said that the Centre will work in tandem with the already functional Centre for Biodiversity Studies on the impact of global warming on plant-pollinator and plant-parasite interaction, animal dormancy and migration, cropping patterns and food production.
It will also undertake work on response of Himalayan glaciers to global warming which has become a highly controversial issue lately, he added.
Masud said that the University has already taken steps to adopt and popularize Green Technology and added that introduction of B. Tech. Programme on Renewable Energy, an important component of Green Technology, is the first step the University has taken in this direction. Next month the University is organizing brain storming meet of experts being sponsored by Government of India, he said.
