| Police launches massive hunt to nab rapist | | | Banihal, July 22: Police have launched a massive hunt to arrest a panch of a Banihal village who allegedly raped a woman of the same area on Wednesday morning in broad daylight.
Police sources said that Mohammad Nawaz Ganie son of Mohammad Ismail Ganie resident of Bass, Maligam (home village of MLA Banihal) in tehsil Banihal allegedly raped a woman and went under ground to evade his arrest.
Police sources said that the woman Shamima Begum mother of two and wife of Ghulam Nabi resident of Bass,Maligam in tehsil Banihal of Ramban district was on her way to her home from a seasonal hut ( Dhok) with some fire wood on head on Wednesday morning at 9-45 am. They said that the woman was intercepted allegedly by Mohammad Nawaz Panch also a father of two, of the same area and dragged her into a near by maize field and raped her allegedly. The woman resisted and cried for help. Sources said a teacher identified as Mohammad Iqbal was on his way to a local school came to her rescue but by that time the crime was committed by the panch and he was escaped from the spot after committing alleged rape.
The woman with her relatives reported the matter to police post Ramsoo who registered a complaint and send a detailed report to police station Banihal for the registration of a rape case under section 341 and 376 RPC.
Police referred the women for the medical examination to Banihal hospital, where non availability of concern doctor the case was referred to SDH Ramban report of which is awaited. |
