| Kashmiri Muslims keen on returns of kPs : Omar | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 21 – Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah has said that his government is working to restore the sense of security in Kashmiri Pandits to facilitate their return to valley. “Actually it was the depletion in the sense of security which led the Kashmiri Pandits to leave the valley rather than economic or political reasons. We have to bring back this sense of security in them besides ensuring other socio-economic avenues”, he said. Speaking to media on the occasion of inauguration of Rs.10.50 crore OPD block of Gandhinagar hospital here, the Chief Minister said that the yearning among majority Muslims to receive back their Kashmiri Pandit brethren will prove as an important catalyst in the government’s efforts to encourage and facilitate the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the valley. Mr. Omar said that the celebrations of Dusshera in Srinagar after 20 years this year and huge number of Muslim joining KPs in the function amply exhibited their desire to seek return of KPs in the valley. “A comprehensive programme is already under implementation and the government has recently sanctioned 3000 jobs for KP youth in the state government sector”, he told the journalists adding that with the improvement in security situation and militancy related incidents the position for return of Kashmiri Migrants will further ease. In reply to a question regarding posting of doctors in the health institutions in rural areas, the Chief Minister said that 1200 posts of doctors are being filled this year to man the health institutions in rural areas. “We are also working with the central government to get additional quote of super-specialty seats for Jammu and Kashmir so that more doctors are deputed for specialized courses. We have also asked the Union Health Ministry to provide short term courses for training of doctors and para-medical staff in specialized fields”, he said.
