| 400 Water Supply Schemes to be ready by March: Taj | | | Early Times Report
Jajjar Kotli, January 21: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din today reiterated his commitment to provide potable drinking water to every habitation in the State. He said by March this year around 400 Water Supply Schemes, which were pending for a long, would be ready for completion benefiting about 5 lakh to 8 lakh people.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Majra Kotli Water Supply Scheme here today, the Minister said the Government has decided to fund the ongoing and under completion schemes so that people who are craving for potable water get relief than announcing the new schemes. He said in Jammu (Rural) district, 41 schemes are ready for operation.
Mr. Taj said a culture of accountability has been introduced in the PHE Department where the staff has been asked to ensure that people don’t suffer due to their lapses. He said Rs. 2.5 crore have been earmarked for the upkeep of equipment in the Department.
