| DKG to come up as a favourite eco-tourism destination: Shabir | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JANUARY 21 – Covered by the lush green forests, the Dera-Ki-Gali (DKG) in district Rajouri is being developed as a major eco-tourism destination. A Rs. 9.23 crore project for this purpose has already been formulated.
The Broad contours of the Draft Project Report (DPR) for eco-tourism development of the areas were discussed here today at a high level meeting, chaired by the Minister of State for Forests and Power, Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan.
The meeting was also attended by the public representatives of Ghambir Mughlan, DKG, Seerhi and Topi.
The Minister said that the project would be implemented by the Forest Department. He said under the project, lush green forests of the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch would be conserved and protected besides developing tourism related infrastructure in the vicinity of the Dera-Ki-Gali, including Topi, Seerhi, Ratanpeer, Sukhsar and Noori Chamb villages.
While discussing the components of the project, the Minister was apprised that Rs. 1.50 crore would be incurred on augmentation of drinking water facility, Rs. 2.10 crore for nature trails and trekking routes, Rs. 1.80 crore for construction of wooden and igloo dome huts and Rs.1.50 crore on the construction of cafeterias, nature interpretation centre, besides development of children park and camping sites in the area.
