| Chib invites youths to register as NYKS volunteers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, January 21 - Observing that the youth are the leaders of tomorrow upon whom cast the burden of upholding honour and dignity of the State, the Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Medical Education and Technical Education, Mr. R. S. Chib today said that young people should whole heartedly participate in the State’s development programmes. The Minister was addressing a high level meeting of officers of the State level Advisory Committee on Youth Programmes, organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, J&K Chapter, here today. Laying stress on sports, cultural and adventure activities, Mr Chib hoped that such activities help in making youth most disciplined and dedicated to shoulder the State’s future responsibilities. Referring to the Prime Minister’s recent announcement about deployment of 8000 volunteers under National Youth Corps Scheme in the State, Mr. Chib said that it has launched a massive programme of registration urban and village level youth to channelize their energies and capabilities towards state building activities. He said the network of NYKS has been extended to 14 districts and is being expanded to other uncovered districts in a phased manner.
MR. Chib asked Zonal Director, NYKS, Ch. Mohammad Atif to organize skill upgradation training programme,, Youth Leadership Personality Development Training, National Integration Camps, and Adventure Programmes in collaboration with other State departments like Tourism, LAWDA, Disaster Management, Traffic, NREGA and Municipal Corporations so that the implementation becomes easy and fruitful for the targeted people.
The Minister further said that J&K Volunteers would serve as Tourist Volunteers for handling the inflow of pilgrims at Vaishno Devi and Amarnath Yatra. Besides, they would be deployed at venues of tourist importance, especially, for cleaning and maintenance of world famous Dal and Nigin Lake. He said, the volunteers would also work for National Mission for Female Literacy, Health and Sanitation Programme and Crowd Management and Disaster Management.
Ch. Mohammad Atif informed the Minister that a volunteer, who is being registered by NYKS should be a Matriculate, in the age-group of 18-25 years. The candidate would be paid an honorarium of Rs.2500 p.m. for first two years.
