| Academy organizes Hussaini Mushaira | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21- Commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA), the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a Hussaini Mushaira at KL Saigal hall, Jammu on Thursday.
Several poets of repute from the state recited their compositions during the Mushaira highlighting the philosophy of martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and the message of Karbala.
Former Vice Chancellor Kashmir University, Prof. Hamidi Kashmiri who was the chief guest on the occasion appreciated the Cultural Academy for organizing such events and hoped that it would continue to do so in future also.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Secretary Cultural Academy, Zaffar Iqbal Manhas said that the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (RA) and the event of Karbala stood out to be torch bearers for humanity guiding mankind from falsehood to righteousness. He assured that the Academy would continue to hold such functions in future also as it was its mandate to do so.
Commenting on the essence of Karbala, Zaffar said that poets played a prominent part in propagating the victory of truth over falsehood in a local and contemporary context.
The poets who recited their verses during the Mushaira included TN Koul Sahil, Shahnaz Rashid, Ayaz Rasool Nazki, Prem Nath Shad, Jawahar Lal Saroor, Bashir Chirag, Omkar Rana, Liaqat Jafri and Nissar Azam.
