Gupta leads BJP’s protest against price hike
1/22/2010 7:19:48 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 21-BJP activists of Talab Tillo Mandal, led by the Party MLA from Jammu West Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, today took out a protest rally from Patta Chungi to Poonch House and also staged protest demonstration against the steep price rise on daily use commodities. The protestors raised slogans against the state and the Central government for their utter failure in controlling the price rise.
Addressing the protestors, Prof Gupta lambasted the Congress government for making tall claims of bumper crops while as the prices to be paid by the common man utterly exposes the hollowness of these claims. No natural calamity has struck the nation which could provide the excuse for this price rise. The fact of the matter is that the middle men in the current times are making huge profits in league with Congress. Coming down heavily on the pretentious claims of the state government of following financial austerity, Prof. Gupta asked the government as to why the strength of the state cabinet is 15 percent of the total strength of the legislature while the national norm is to keep it up to 10 per cent and to top it further appointments of ruling party politicians are made to head the various bodies and conferred MoS status, thus further straining the already bankrupt state exchequer.
Chander Mohan Sharma, Bawa Sharma, Kulbhushan Mohtra, Surinder Choudhary, Sanjay Baru, Sanjay Mahajan, Rajesh Gupta, Ayodhya Kumar, Munish Babbal, Tripta Jamwal, Rakesh Mishra, Rachna Mahajan, Inderjit, Naseeb Chand, Billu, Rakesh Kumar, and S.Gurcharan Singh were prominent among those who took part in the protest demonstration.
Similar programme led by Vibodh Gupta and Yogesh Sharma was held at Jawahar Nagar in Rajouri while as the state vice-President Chander Prakash Ganga led another protest demonstration at Bari Brahamana.
