| Dy CM meets Redddy | | | Early Times Report
New Delhi, January 20 - Deputy Chief Minister J&K, Mr. Tara Chand met the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Mr. S. Jaipal Reddy in Nirmaan Bhawan here today along with the senior officials of State Urban Development Department.
Tara Chand discussed major development projects launched in the cities of Jammu and Srinagar including the implementation of JNNURM, and approval of projects appraised by CPHEEO under UIDSSMT. The Deputy Chief Minister further added that other schemes like the projects formulated in pursuance to the decisions taken in the meeting with Cabinet Secretary in the month of October at Srinagar also needs due consideration. The Deputy Chief Minister also requested the Union Minister regarding additional funds for completion of solid waste-management projects due to the enhancement of scope of the projects.
During the review meeting Union Health Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad was also present.
Mr. Reddy assured Deputy Chief Minister of full cooperation from the Central Government and said that the requirements of the State government would be met in a phased manner. In the meeting it was decided that a Committee of senior officials of CPHEEO, Ministry of Urban Development Department, NBCC and from the concerned Department of the state may be constituted in order to asses the bottlenecks in the layout of sewerage pipelines in Jammu city .
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Mr. Mubarak Singh, Vice Chairman, Jammu Development Authority, Mr. Gulzar Ahmad Qureshi, Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Mr. Khifayat Rizvi also attended the meeting. Other participants were Special Secretary Housing, Mr. Javed Ahmed, Director Local Bodies, Jammu, Mr. Khurshid Ahmad, Director Local Bodies,Srinagar, Mr. Mohammad Abbas, Joint Director, Planning, Mr. Shabir Ahmad and CEO, SUIDA besides senior officers of Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and General Manager, NBCC.
