| DGP visits Commando Training School | | | Early Times Report Jammu, January 21: The Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. Kuldeep Khoda, today inspected the Police Commando Training School at Lethpora in South Kashmir and took stock of the ongoing construction works and the facilities available in the Training School. During his inspection, the DGP was informed about the construction works completed and the facilities made available for the trainees and the staff. He was told that the project has been taken up in 2006, with an estimated cost of Rs. 30 crore, out of which Rs. 22.70 crores have been spent on the construction of office as well as residential accommodation for the jawans and the staff. The DGP was informed that the project was under taken keeping in view the latest requirements, like indoor and outdoor stadia, residential quarters for men and officers, administrative blocks, academic accommodation and officers mess. On the occasion, Mr. Khoda said that the department is taking keen interest in giving new orientation to the training initiatives for acquainting its men with the latest skills for better police functioning and in this regard the Commando Training School has started functioning from this year. He further said that over 600 trainees, who have recently been recruited in the department are undergoing training in this School. The DGP said that advanced domain knowledge and special technological skills are imperative to defeat the latest challenges faced by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. “We had to get such trainings from the institutes outside the State and now we are capable to start re-oriented training courses in the areas like crime detection and anti-terrorism in our State”, he added. Among others, the DGP was accompanied by the Managing Director, J&K, Police Housing Corporation, Mr. Ravinder Kotwal, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Mr. Farooq Ahmed, Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Kashmir Range, Mr. K. K. Saini, and S.P.Awantipore, Mr. Bashir Ahmed Khan.
