Birth anniversary of Martandji celebrated at Paloura

JAMMU, JAN 22: Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Mubarak Gul has said that Kashmiri Pandits are part and parcel of the Valley of Kashmir, adding that Kashmiriyat is incomplete without them. He said that contribution of Pandit brethren towards the Kashmiri culture has been outstanding and un-parallel in the annals Kashmir history.
Mr. Gul was speaking at a large gathering of Kashmiri Pandits, assembled to celebrate the birth day of Martand (‘The Sun God’) at Surya Bhawan, Paloura here today.
Mr. Gul said that Kashmir history is replete of the struggle which the people waged against the foreign powers intruding the heaven occasionally. “ however, every invasion redoubled our commitment to safeguard the borders and the rich culture inherited from our ancestors”, he maintained.
The Advisor said that our civilization has produced great personalities like Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and Yousuf Shah Chak, who led the nation to victory and proved torch bearers for the coming generations.
He said that the big religions of the world have always preached the path of peaceful co-existence and prosperity and not supported the myopic approaches of hatred and fanaticism to the people. “Keeping the rich values of our culture alive we have to enrich and safeguard the age old mutual bonds and defeat the designs of evil forces bent upon to disintegrate the unity and integrity of the State”, he added.
Other speakers also threw light on ancient history of Mr. Martand ji and described the tirath a powerful religious centre of Kashmir. They applauded the Trust for its sincere efforts to uplift the society during hard and critical time of displacement.
Among others, MLC Mr. Vijay Bakaya, ex-MLC Mr. B. L. Bhat, and Swami Kumarji besides a large number of senior citizens were present on the occasion.
