| Efforts on to mobilize pilgrims to local destinations, says Bhalla | | Painting exhibition inaugurated | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JAN 23: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla today called upon the people to protect the public property and keep a close watch on developmental works in their respective areas to ensure creation of durable social infrastructure. The Minister was addressing a gathering after inspecting the ongoing construction work on double storey Community Hall at Gorkha Nagar near Har-ki -Pauri in Bagh-e-Bahu, here this afternoon. Bhalla said that the upcoming Community Hall would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 80.06 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete it by March 2010 so that locals could avail the benefits as it would help them in arranging marriage, social and religious functions on minimal charges. The Minister said that Government has formulated a comprehensive plan for developing the Bahu Fort area on modern lines by providing all infrastructural facilities to visitors. He said that most of tourists reaching here, in the first instance, prefer to have darshan of Mahakali temple and later proceed to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji. With a view to retain maximum number of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims in the Jammu City, the Government has taken up various projects to add to the attraction of the city temples. He said that the Government has sanctioned Rs. 2 crore for developing the Raghunath Bazaar as Heritage Bazaar. He said that Government has also approved Rs. 3.5 crore for construction of view points and pathway on the right bank of river Tawi at Peer Kho. He said that Rs. 25 crore are being incurred on development of an artificial lake in Niki Tawi near Balicharana. Listing major projects taken up to promote tourism industry in the Jammu region, he said that Rs. 200 crore have been sanctioned for restoring the pristine glory of Royal Heritage Complex. He said this has become possible following liberal funding by the Central Government for developing the tourists spots in the State on modern lines. He said that Rs. 10 crore Tourist Reception Centre, at Railway Station would be constructed for the convenience of tourists. Earlier, the construction work on mini tube well at Raipur-Satwari was started in presence of the Minister for which Rs. 2.5 lakh has been earmarked. Interacting with locals, Mr. Bhalla said that the Government has approved Rs. 80 lakh for construction of hand pumps in Gaddigarh, Bhour Camp and Govindpura Kullian to meet the requirement of drinking water in Raipur Satwari and adjoining areas, adding that Rs. 27 lakh have also been sanctioned for laying of water supply pipes in uncovered areas of the area. Later, Mr. Bhalla also inaugurated 5-day panting Exhibition ‘Kashmir outpouring Emotions’ organised by Mr. Kamal Nain Bhan’ at Kala Kendra, Bikram Chowk. Additional Secretary, Cultural Academy, Mrs. Savita Bakshi, Deputy Secretary Cultural Academy, Mr. Om Parkash Sharma, Dr, Jitender Singh, prominent citizens and painting lovers were present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhalla greeted Mr. Bhan and said that such type of exhibitions help in educating the young generations about the art and cultural heritage of the State. He asked the students to gain education of painting besides academic education.
