| Presentation Convent celebrates sports day | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 23: The presentation convent senior secondary school, celebrated its annual sports day here today. The event was held to mark the republic day celebrations in the country while DIG armed police T. Punchok, was the chief guest and Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Celestine, Bishop of Diocese of Jammu and Kashmir was the guest of honour on the occasion. The function started with welcome speech by the head girl, Polina Singh followed by an address by the principal, Sr. Rosamma said that the enthusiasm and vibrancy of our young generation will keep the tricolour flying high and give us hope for a better tomorrow. The march past on the occasion displayed agility, synchronization and confidence of the students which filled the atmosphere with the vibrations of patriotism. The highlights of the event were butterfly drill, flag drill, martial arts, star drill, lazium, and exciting races etc. The vigour and enthusiasm displayed by the school band conveyed the feelings of unity and equality. Everyone watched with abated breath as girls performed all the brilliant drills. Chief Guest in his address said that schools like Presentation Convent would lead the future generations onto the path of peace and harmony. He also said that a sound mind in a sound body is possible only when we are active in sports as well as rank holders and winners of various races were felicitated and scholarships were awarded by the chief guest.
