Caught in catch22, CS aspirants want change in exam schedule
“Aspirants want exams even preponed as dates as clashing with UPSC schedule”
1/23/2010 11:17:40 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 24: The aspirants of Civil Services exams have requested the Chairman of Public Service Commission (PSC), S L Bhat to change the date of holding Combined Competitive Mains Examination scheduled to commence from March 15, 2010.
In a letter forwarded to Chairman PSC, the aspirants said that they have already made a request to prepone or postpone the Combined Competitive Mains Exam as its dates would clash with the dates of Viva Voce test of Civil Services examination conducted by UPSC.
The aspirants said, “We are not able to understand the fact that when Preliminary stage of this exam was conducted on May 24, 2009, one week after the Civil Services Preliminary Examination, why the Mains Exam was not conducted in the month of November after the Civil Services Main exam which would have been very logical.”
“Perhaps, the PSC had some compulsions and was not able to conduct the examination in the month of November but those compulsions have now put the aspirants in dilemma,” they maintained and added, “The results of Civil Services Mains Examination would be declared in the first week of March and many aspirants among us who would be successful would definitely like to take coaching from some reputed institutes in Delhi to enhance their chances of our success.”
They pointed out that if the examination of Combined Competitive Mains start from March 15, they would not be able to attend the coaching classes.
“As this exam does not follow a proper schedule, it is logical to be requested that its date should not clash with another exam of similar nature. Also the KAS exam being the feeder service of IAS examination, our request is not unjustified,” they said.
