| Bhalla initiates work for Community Hall at Satwari | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, JAN 24: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Mr. Raman Bhalla on Sunday laid foundation stone of Multi Purpose Community Hall at Raipur Satwari coming up at a cost of Rs. 64.51 lakh. Addressing a huge gathering, after laying foundation stone of the hall, Mr. Bhalla asked the concerned executing agency to complete it by April 2010. He said that with the completion of Multi Purpose Hall, the locals of Raipur Satwari, Barzalla, Chandmari, Hakla and adjoining areas will get adequate facilities to organise various religious and social functions. He asked the people to personally monitor execution of the ongoing development works to ensure judicious use of funds.
He informed that Government has also approved Rs. 150 crore for construction of fourth bridge from Bhagwati Nagar to Belicharana and Rs. 25 crore for artificial lake in Niki Tawi. He said that with the completion of bridge, the rush on two main bridges over river Tawi would be reduced. He said that both the projects would be completed within three years. He said that Government has sanctioned Rs. 1 crore for construction of link road at Kashmiri Basti near Belicharana. He asked the executing agency to complete the road by March, 2010. He said that UPA Government led by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh has provided liberal funds for completing the ongoing projects in the State. To improve water facilities in Raipur-Satwari and adjoining areas, Mr. Bhalla said that coalition Government has sanctioned Rs. 20 lakh for laying of pipes. He asked the PHE department to immediately start the work for the benefit of all sections of the society. He said that the Government has approved Rs. 80 lakh for construction of hand pumps in Gaddigarh, Bhour Camp, Raipur Satwari and Govindpura Kullian Siglighar to meet the drinking water requirements in Raipur Satwari and adjoining areas. The Minister said Government was committed to improve the socio-economic conditions of the people with focus on unprivileged class of the society. He said financial assistance under IAY is being provided to BPL families for construction of houses. He called upon the beneficiaries not to misuse the funds which are meant for construction of their dwelling units. Earlier, the Minister also laid the foundation stone of 800 meter long link road at Bikram Nagar in Bhour Camp to be completed at a cost of Rs. 21 lakh. He asked the concerned agency to complete it within stipulated time frame so that it could be thrown open for public inconvenience. Later, Mr. Bhalla also visited Jalalabad in Sunjwan to take stock of the problems of locals. The local demanded proper maintenance of Sunjwan-Jalalabad link road, adequate drinking water facilities, upgradation of 6.5 KVA transformer up to 10.5 KVA, upgradation of Govt. Primary School, Firdous Abad, Opening of Govt. Primary School at Jalalabad, repairs and renovation of interior lanes and drains, inclusion the names of left out families into voter lists.
