| Mehbooba condemns killing of innocent youth at Pulwama | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Jan 24- Strongly condemning the brutal killing of a youth in Pulwama area, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti today sought Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh’s intervention to keep a check on unabated cases of human rights violation and also demanded action against the culprits responsible for the cold blooded murder of the youth. “State is sliding towards the pre-2002 situation due to the policies of the National Conference led coalition regime in the State”, she said while condemning Pulwama killing where a youth namely Mushtaq Wani was killed by the security as he was made as a human shield near his home. The deceased was first forcibly used as guide and later killed by the security after using him as human shield, Mehbooba said. “It is unfortunate that killing of innocent people at the hands of security forces have been going unabated and state government failed to protect lives of people”, she said and pointed out that during the last one year human right violation cases have increased manifold as this dispensation has failed to check excess use of force by security forces. She regretted that State is moving towards the pre-2002 situation due to repressive measures being adopted by the government to stifle voice of the people. PDP chief pointed out that just two days back an innocent civilian Manzoor Ahmed Sofi was killed at Ikhwanpora, Dewar in Pattan area and one more killing has exposed claims of the State Government.
